Helping children rediscover a joyful childhood within safe loving family is at the heart of what we do. We have our own ‘Arts space’ and specialist support and guidance to help you and your foster child to achieve that aim. We also provide a generous fostering family allowance and a range of fun, family activities throughout the year which your family can enjoy. Check out our Facebook page to see what we get up to.

At the Action for Children Fostering Wales service we think and feel like one big family and we are passionate about the well-being of the fostered children and young people, the foster parents, our staff and colleagues. As a charitable ‘not for profit’ organisation we ensure that our service is continually learning and developing its resources to better meet the needs of children and families.

We use Attachment theory and principles, and our knowledge of the impact of trauma on early childhood development in our work to help children, young people and foster parents to make a meaningful emotional connection and family belonging.

In our recent CIW inspection report we were very proud to be described as ‘sector leading’ – a celebration of the work our foster families and the service do.

Action for Children Fostering Wales seeks to recruit a range of foster parents to meet the varied needs of these children, welcoming applications from all members of society, including:

  • married and unmarried couples
  • couples in civil partnerships, single applicants
  • gay and lesbian applicants either as couples or single
  • applicants with disabilities.

The key criteria are that people are able and willing to make a commitment to meeting the physical and emotional needs of the children we are seeking to place, in an environment which will ensure they can feel safe and can offer stability.

We offer high levels of training, supervision and support, including peer group support.

Call the team directly on 01633 270422 or fill in our quick contact form and a member of the team will be in touch.

The children we help

We offer foster homes to girls and boys and siblings aged 0-18yrs of age and support our children and families post-18 under ‘When I’m ready’ arrangements.

Often, the reason why children come in to fostering means that they have had difficult starts in life. We offer specialist training and tailored support to individual children and foster families to help the children recapture their childhoods and make sure that children develop a true sense of foster family belonging, thus giving them the best chance to have successful adult lives as part of a family that cares for them.

As a children’s charity we can offer fostering families the expertise and support they need when they need it. This service also offers specialist consultation and guidance to schools and our LA partners which sets us apart from other fostering services.

Types of Fostering

We offer long-term, short-term and respite homes for fostered children. We would love to speak to anyone interested in offering a child a loving home and the experience of being part of a family – we can help you think it through to decide which type of fostering is right for you and your family.
