Julie Bentley was presented with the prestigious Outstanding Individual Achievement award at this year’s Charity Times Awards ceremony in London.

Julie was praised by the judges for her incredible support to women, to the charity sector and to children and young people.

“Over her career as a CEO, she has developed her own unique leadership style and is proven to be a continual source of inspiration to other leaders within the sector” they said.

The judges went on to praise Julie’s “honesty, humour and empathy to create a culture of transparency and trust within any organisation she works for. Coupled with her passion for children and social justice, she has proven to excel in every single role she has taken on.”

The award recognises a person who has demonstrated dedication, professionalism and integrity throughout their career, and who has produced an identifiably profound effect on the sector through their work and management over at least a 10-year period. Submissions are not invited for this special award. It is determined via a combination of charity sector consultation and deliberations amongst the Awards panel of independent judges.

Julie had no idea she was in line for an award: she said of the award; “The shock was real when my name was called. I love our charity sector and the brilliant folks in it and am so proud to have spent my career in it so this award is a real privilege.”

The 20th annual Charity Times Awards was held at the Park Plaza hotel on Wednesday 2 October 2019.
