The winner of the Book People’s nationwide competition to find a new child bedtime story writer was announced by Fearne Cotton at a prestigious awards ceremony in London.

Isabel Harris’s book The Moon Man, about two groups of animal friends who view a scarecrow in very different ways, was chosen from entries by over 1,000 aspiring writers, aged five to 11, and will now be published by Little Tiger Press, illustrated by renowned illustrator Ada Grey and sold exclusively at

"A huge congratulations to young storyteller Isabel, for being named the winner of Book People’s Bedtime Story Competition. My fellow judges and I were blown away by the number of wonderful entries received, but in Isabel’s story, we really have picked a worthy winner. The Moon Man demonstrates everything a brilliant bedtime story should be – imaginative, fun and perfect for sharing with a child before they go to bed to inspire a lifelong love of reading. Well done, Isabel.”"

Laura Hamilton, Action for Children Ambassador and Judge

Hosted by Kate Silverton, the ceremony was attended by a judging panel including representatives from Book People and Little Tiger Press, illustrator Ada Grey, and author and presenter Fearne Cotton. TV personality and Action for Children celebrity supporter Laura Hamilton also sat on the judging panel.

"This has been such a joyful and inspiring event to be part of. Choosing a winner was incredibly hard as the ideas and characters each writer came up with were so impressive. They are all amazing! Every single one of our entrants should be really proud of their story, and I hope they keep writing, reading, and feeding their imaginations. I can’t wait to read Isabel’s book to my children once it’s been illustrated and published and hope other children, mums and dads love it as much as we did."
