Thank you so much for your incredible support.

"What Action for Children has done is just magic."

Thirty-four-year-old Kelly from Norfolk was determined to give her three daughters the happy childhood she had missed out on. But when her mental and physical health deteriorated, she realised she couldn’t do it alone.

Kelly had a difficult childhood. Aged 10, she was caring for her three siblings and facing emotional and physical abuse from her mum. When she had her own children, Kelly was determined to break the cycle of abuse and give her three little girls the happy childhood that she’d missed out on.

But she put herself under too much pressure: when things weren’t perfect, she blamed herself and her mental health began to suffer.

When her husband Darren was diagnosed with a degenerative spine condition and she found out she had multiple sclerosis, the family nearly fell apart.

But Action for Children has helped Kelly and Darren to keep their family together. By offering non-judgemental advice and practical support, we’ve given Kelly the confidence to be the best mum she can be to her girls.

“What Action for Children has done is just magic. Having Action for Children in our lives is so important. The kids have really thrived with their support. I think they’ve have seen that even though we’re disabled, we’re going to try to give them as normal a childhood as possible,” says Kelly.

“It’s thanks to Action for Children that we’ve been able to do that.”

Give a meaningful gift this Christmas and help vulnerable children

Last year, our Secret Santas helped us give more children hot meals and presents for Christmas. They also helped make sure homeless teenagers had a safe place to sleep, and gave young carers a much-needed break.

This year, we want to bring the magic of Christmas to even more children.

Buy a virtual gift and make a friend or family member a Secret Santa. We’ll give you a certificate to personalise and send to your Santa.
